  11. This release contains several fixes for numerous protocol-related
  12. NLM(TM) files in the NetWare 4.10 release.  Various problems with
  13. TCP/IP, AppleTalk, IPXRTR, or INETCFG are addressed.  Actual
  14. problems and solutions are detailed later in the readme technical
  15. information document.

  66. Installation Instructions:

  68. 1. Make a backup copy of each NLM file and MSG file.
  69.  
  70.  2. Copy the new NLM files to the SYS:SYSTEM directory.
  71.  
  72.  3. Copy the new MSG files to the SYS:SYSTEM\NLS\4 directory.
  73.  
  74.  NOTE: BRIDGE, PARSER, and LLC8022 are required only on NetWare
  75. for OS/2 servers.

  78.  SOLUTION SPECIFICS:
  79.  
  80.  AppleTalk:
  81.  Resolves problems resulting in hung or aborted print jobs for
  82. applications using the AppleTalk 3.x APIs.
  83.  
  84.  Improves error detection on SFT III(TM) systems.
  85.  
  86.  Fixes a problem that might cause an invalid DDP checksum of
  87. 0xFFFF to be transmitted when DDP checksums are enabled.
  88.  
  89.  AURP:
  90.  Now waits up to five minutes for transmissions to complete
  91. before unloading.  This prevents a server from abending because
  92. transmissions are still pending when AURP is unloaded.
  93.  
  94.  ADSP:
  95.  Corrects a problem where a NetWare 4.1 server abends because
  96. ADSP released an invalid memory resource.
  97.  
  98.  BRIDGE and PARSER:
  99.  Allows bridging to work concurrently over X.25 and Frame Relay.
  100.  
  101.  INETCFG:
  102.  Improves the conversion of load commands from NetWare for
  103. Macintosh to the INETCFG database.
  104.  
  105.  IPXCFG:
  106.  Corrects a problem where the frame type is set incorrectly for
  107. IPX if the default is not selected.
  108.  
  109.  IPXRTR:
  110.  Corrects a problem with load balancing. If you want to use load
  111. balancing, set the Maximum Number of Path Splits parameter under
  112. the Expert IPX Protocol Options to a value greater than 1. A new
  113. SET command has been added for additional configuration of load
  114. balancing when a server has multiple bindings to the same LAN
  115. without going through a router. The syntax of the new SET command
  116. is as follows:
  117.  
  118.  SET LOAD BALANCE LOCAL LAN = <OFF/ON>
  119.  
  120.  The default state is OFF.
  121.  
  122.  This SET command should be used in the following instances:
  123.  
  124.  - Turn on load balancing if a server is connected to a LAN
  125. through multiple interfaces and the interfaces are either on the
  126. same media or attached to different ports of a switch.
  127.  
  128.  - Turn off load balancing if a server has multiple interfaces to
  129. two segments of the same LAN that is also bridged.
  130.  
  131.  NOTE: The values 0, -1, and -2 are reserved and should never be
  132. assigned as IPX network numbers.
  133.  
  134.  Corrects a problem where the SAP from a print server was not
  135. aged out if RIP and SAP were operating in AUTO mode.
  136.  
  137.  Prevents an abend that occurs if an SPX application sends a
  138. packet to the internal network and load balancing for the local
  139. LAN is turned on using the SET command described above.
  140.  
  141.  Adds a feature that enables NLSP to switch automatically from
  142. broadcast to multicast when all NLSP nodes on the LAN support
  143. multicast.
  144.  
  145.  Corrects a problem where wildcard filters were applied
  146. inappropriately to the source of the packet to all interfaces.
  147.  
  148.  Corrects the handling of the Get Nearest Server request so that
  149. it does not respond with the nearest Directory Server if the SET
  150. REPLY TO GET NEAREST SERVER option is off. IPXRTR does not allow
  151. static routes or services to be added to a link that is not using
  152. static routing.
  153.  
  154.  IPXRTRNM:
  155.  Corrects a problem where IPXRTRNM abended on NetWare for
  156. Windows.
  157.  
  158.  IPXCON:
  159.  Corrects a problem where IPXCON was not displaying a level 2
  160. neighbor.
  161.  
  162.  LLC8022:
  163.  Provides LAN Network Manager (LNM) functionality.
  164.  
  165.  NOTE: Before you install any NetWare for SAA patches, check the
  166. current version of LLC8022. Be sure to make a backup of LLC8022
  167. before installing any NetWare for SAA patches. (Some SAA patches
  168. incorrectly overwrite newer versions of LLC8022. If this happens,
  169. just restore the backup.)
  170.  
  171.  TCP/IP:
  172.  Supports OSPF on SFT III IO Engines. The Autonomous System
  173. Boundary Router parameter must be enabled in the OSPF
  174. configuration. Use INETCFG to enable and configure OSPF.
  175.  
  176.  Corrects a problem with directed broadcasts that caused
  177. broadcasts to be forwarded in only one direction.
  178.  
  179.  Allows routes learned from SNMP to be advertised by the IP
  180. routing protocol.
  181.  
  182.  Fixes a problem with route filter exceptions. Depending on the
  183. order in which the filters were set, an exception could be
  184. ignored.
  185.  
  186.  Fixes a problem that might cause a page fault if a TCP or UDP
  187. stream is aborted while data is in transmission.
  188.  
  189.  Fixes a race condition that might cause an abend when running
  190. SFT III on a large IP internet.
